The full legalese follows below, it is worth reading.
01

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the FineTime mobile application or any associated website (collectively, "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and GetFineTime Ltd ("FineTime", "we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17138499, whose registered address is 18 St. Cross Street, London, England, EC1N 8UN.

Your continued use of the Service following any modification to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify you of material changes where we are able to do so.

By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age.
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
  • You are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law.
  • You will not use the Service to facilitate underage drinking in any way.

03

The Service

FineTime provides a mobile application that enables groups of users to file humorous peer-reviewed charges against one another, conduct group votes on those charges, and record outcomes for entertainment purposes.

Charges & verdicts
The charge, voting, and sentencing mechanics are for entertainment only. No outcome of any proceeding within the Service carries legal weight, obligation, or enforceability outside of the app.
🗳
Group membership
The Service is designed for use between consenting adults who know each other. You should only add individuals to a group with their knowledge and agreement. All members of a group must have accepted these Terms before charges may be raised against them.
👤
Group administration
Each group has an administrator. Group administrators may not delete their account or leave a group without first transferring administrative rights to another member. Administrators may dissolve a group at any time, which will remove the group and its associated records for all members.
🔔
Notifications
The Service may send push notifications relating to charges, verdicts, and group activity. Notification preferences can be managed within the application settings.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

04

Your Account

To use the Service you must register for an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.

Account security

You agree to notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use of your account that occurs without our fault.

Account accuracy

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when registering and to keep that information up to date. Accounts using false information may be terminated.

Account deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time via [email protected] or through the in-app account settings. Prior to deletion, group administrators must transfer administrative rights to another member. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, subject to any retention obligations under applicable law. Charges and votes in which you participated may be anonymised rather than deleted where removal would affect other users' legitimate records. The licence you granted to your User Content under Section 06 terminates on account deletion, except in respect of content that has been anonymised as part of another user's legitimate record.

05

Acceptable Use

FineTime is built for friends having fun. The following uses are expressly prohibited and may result in account termination and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant authorities.

🚫
Harassment & targeting
Using the Service to harass, intimidate, bully, or target an individual, including through repeated charges, coordinated group voting, or abusive comments, is strictly prohibited.
🚫
Hateful content
Content that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory has no place on the platform. Charges must not target protected characteristics.
🚫
Non-consensual inclusion
You may not add individuals to groups or file charges against people without a reasonable basis to believe they are willing participants. The Service is opt-in by design: all group members must have accepted these Terms before charges may be raised against them.
🚫
Illegal activity
The Service must not be used to document, encourage, or facilitate any unlawful act. This includes any charge that describes or glorifies criminal behaviour.
User welfare

If you feel uncomfortable with how the Service is being used toward you, you may leave any group or delete your account at any time. Instructions for doing so are available within the application settings.

Note on tone
Charges are expected to be humorous in nature. The line between banter and harassment is a matter of context and consent. When in doubt: if the person being charged would not find it funny, it probably should not be filed.
06

Your Content

The Service allows you to submit charges, votes, comments, and other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of the content you create. By submitting User Content, you grant GetFineTime Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, and transmit that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. This licence terminates upon account deletion, except in respect of content that has been anonymised as part of another user's legitimate record.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights to submit the content.
  • The content does not violate these Terms, any applicable law, or any third party's rights.
  • The content does not contain private information about any individual without a lawful basis to do so.
  • Where your User Content contains personal data relating to any third party, you have a lawful basis under applicable data protection law for sharing that data through the Service, and you accept sole responsibility for compliance with that obligation.

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms, without notice and without liability to you.

Always drink within your limits and in accordance with applicable law.
10

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GetFineTime Ltd, its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

This includes, without limitation:

  • Damage to relationships, however charged the group chat becomes.
  • Loss arising from reliance on any verdict or sentence generated by the Service.
  • Loss of data arising from account deletion or technical failure.
  • Harm resulting from User Content submitted by other users.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of £50 or the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11

Paid Features & Commercial Partnerships

The Service is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid features, subscription tiers, or in-app purchases in the future, separate payment terms will be presented to you at the point of purchase and will govern those transactions.

If we enter into commercial sponsorship arrangements that result in branded content appearing within the Service, such content will be clearly identified as commercially sponsored.

12

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Where we suspend or terminate your account, you may contact [email protected] to query or contest the decision.

You may terminate your account at any time by submitting a deletion request via [email protected] or through the in-app account settings. Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that arose prior to termination.

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. Sections 06, 09, 10, and 14 shall survive termination.

13

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the version number and effective date at the top of this page. Where changes are material, we will endeavour to notify you via the app or by email before they take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.

14

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. This applies to all users of the Service regardless of their country of residence.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
